Mid-Career Fund
Feel stuck in a professional rut? Want to learn some new skills? AAJA-Chicago can help!
Every year, AAJA-Chicago will award four stipends of $250 each to a current chapter member to reimburse the cost of attending a professional development conference or workshop. Past recipients have included Rummana Hussain for her East-West Fellowship and Alice Chang for a writing workshop. **Cannot be used for annual AAJA conventions.**
"I am so grateful that AAJA provided me with the mid-career fund. As a freelance journalist, it's difficult for me to get professional training. The mid-career fund enabled me to go to the Nieman Narrative Conference in Boston, which inspired me to write more creatively and connected me with likeminded journalists. Thank you, AAJA!" - Alice Chang
Applicants must have five years of professional experience, be a current member of AAJA-Chicago and demonstrate a financial need. Recipients are selected by AAJA-Chicago's officers.
To apply, send a letter to chiaaja(at)yahoo.com detailing the conference or workship you plan to attend and explain why you need financial assistance.
