Jennifer Abbasi

Jennifer AbbasiJennifer Abbasi is an AAJA-NY chapter board member and an associate editor at Parenting magazine, where she covers kids' and women's health. Prior to joining Parenting as an editorial assistant in 2003, she interned at In Style: Special Issues. A graduate of NYU with a BA in English and American literature, Jennifer launched her journalism career with an internship at aMagazine: Inside Asian America. She was hired as an assistant editor upon graduation, becoming the first-ever South Asian staffer at aMagazine, which folded in 2002.

Jennifer has co-organized such AAJA events as the first East Coast Mini-Conference, a screening of the Bill Moyers PBS documentary Becoming American: The Chinese American Experience, and the chapter's ongoing skills-building workshops. While a Midwestern girl at heart (Skokie, Ill., to be more specific), she's never looked back since her NYU days, and can't imagine ever leaving the sunny streets of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
