Pradnya Joshi

Pradnya JoshiPradnya Joshi is a staff editor on the metro copy desk of The New York Times. Before joining The Times, she was an Asia-Pacific desk editor in Hong Kong for the wire service Agence France-Presse. She was also the AAJA-NY chapter president for five years.

Previously, she was a staff writer for Newsday for nine years. While at Newsday, she covered various metro and business beats including Wall Street, corporate fraud, economic development, technology and telecommunications. She had also worked on several special projects for Newsday, including the paper's annual report on executive compensation.

Before joining Newsday, she was a business reporter at The Milwaukee Journal, and, after a merger, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

During college, she interned for the Los Angeles Times, Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and Saginaw News in Michigan. In addition, she spent three months in Washington, D.C., covering the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement for several small regional papers.

She graduated in 1993 with a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in journalism and international studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has lived in various parts of the world including Brazil, the Philippines, Texas and Washington state.

Her husband, Ashutosh Kurlekar, is a healthcare consultant to hospitals. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling and watching college football -- particularly games featuring the Texas A&M Aggies and the Northwestern Wildcats.
