Qin Li

Qin LiQin Li is a news anchor and reporter with Sino Television Inc., the only 24-hour channel on the East Coast dealing exclusively with China and related international issues. She is also a host and director of In the Spotlight, a weekly half-hour TV talk show featuring interviews with important personalities and newsmakers. Her work has won acclaim from both the Chinese community and mainstream viewers.

Li graduated with a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 2000. She also holds a master's degree in economics from Beijing's Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a bachelor's degree in law from the Chinese Youth College of Political Science, also in Beijing.

Li has produced numerous TV documentaries, including "Blue Sky Station-New York's 3rd Chinatown" (2000), winner of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' College ("Emmy") Award in 2001. Her current project is a one-hour documentary about New York's Chinatown after Sept.11.

In her native China, Li was an editor and reporter for the People's Daily, China's largest newspaper, for seven years. During this period, she received the Best News award from the Chinese National Journalists Association and Chinese Disability Association (1994), and the Best News award from Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (1993).

In addition, Li has written or co-written three books in China, the works' subjects ranging from the Japanese economy to Chinese education to privacy law in China. She has also served as a guest lecturer at New York University's Tisch School of Arts.
