Want to inspire some College Students??  Apply Here!
The Seattle Chapter of AAJA is working with the student SPJ chapter at UW and NAHJ to host a journalism skills workshop. April 20, Tuesday, 7 p.m. for all area college students. The event will be held at the UW, communications building, room 126. I'm looking for a couple people, professionals in both broadcast and print, to help lead a couple of the workshops. It'll be a two-and-a-half hour commitment at most, and there will be food. I'm thinking maybe three topics/exercises, maybe 30-40 minutes each interviewing; note-taking; maybe news judgment. Followed by Q&A, informal mentoring time, etc. eating of course.  If you have ideas of how we can present the above topics, or what would be beneficial to college students, let me know. More info to come, but if you're interested in helping out, or if you have thoughts, send me an email. Thanks, Michael Ko (mko@seattletimes.com)

National AAJA Approves Five-Year Strategic Plan
San Francisco- The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) unveils its five-year strategic plan that focuses on strengthening relationships with the media industry and the Asian American community as well as financial stability for the organization. The plan hones in on four areas -- providing more training to Asian and Pacific American journalists so they can be effective leaders and agents of positive change in the industry; forging better ties with Asian American communities; developing greater expectations and skills of AAJA's national and chapter leaders and staff; and finding ways for the organization to be more financially sound. A year in the making, PDFs of the plan are available online at the following web address http//www.aaja.org/html/news_html/press_releases/news_pr_040322.html
