Events AAJA TEXAS 2008 CALENDAR Here's a quick glance at what we're planning for this year: >> JANUARY 2008 Sun. Jan. 13: JANUARY CHAPTER MEETING - Join the board of Texas AAJA in its regular monthly meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dallas Morning News offices, 508 Young Street, Dallas. Please RSVP to Suzanne Marta or call 214-977-7603, so she can add you to the security list. >> FEBRUARY 2008 >> MARCH 2008 Fri., Mar. 14: UNITY EARLY BIRD DEADLINE - Deadline for early-bird registration for the UNITY Convention in Chicago -- $325 for professional members. Mon., Mar. 31: CHAPTER STIPEND APPLICATION DEADLINE - Deadline to apply for a $1,000 professional stipend to use toward journalism programs, workshops, and other enrichment opportunities, including this year's UNITY convention. >> APRIL 2008 Sat., Apr. 26: ANNUAL STATE JOURNALISM CONFERENCE - "Navigating change" is the theme of this year's conference at the University of Houston Communications building, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the conference, we also will hold a media access workshop for the Asian American community in Houston. Much more information on the Programs page and SPECIAL SECTION: State Conference 2008. >> MAY 2008 Sat., May 31: STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE -Application deadline for Texas chapter's $1,000 student scholarship >> JUNE 2008 Fri., Jun. 13: UNITY PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE -Deadline for pre-registration for the UNITY Convention in Chicago -- $375 for professional members. >> JULY 2008 Tue., Jul. 1: BOARD POSITIONS NOMINATIONS BEGIN -Nomination period begins for chapter president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. Details on positions and nomination process in June 2008 newsletter. Wed., Jul. 23 - Sun., Jul. 27: UNITY CONVENTION -UNITY Convention in Chicago. Onsite registration for professional members, $575. Fri., Jul. 25: AAJA TEXAS MIXER-Mingle with chapter members and enjoy free appetizers, courtesy of AAJA Texas, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The BIG Bar at Hyatt Regency Chicago (151 E. Wacker Drive), during the UNITY convention. >> AUGUST 2008 >> SEPTEMBER 2008 Tue., Sep. 30: BOARD POSITIONS NOMINATIONS END -Nomination period ends for chapter president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.
