Events AAJA TEXAS 2010 CALENDAR Here's a quick glance at what we're planning for this year: >> JANUARY 2010 >> FEBRUARY 2010 February 13: 2010 Lunar New Year Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Chinese Community Center, 9800 Town Park, Houston, TX 77036. There will be dragon and lion dances, heritage tour and food. Admission and parking are free. We will be sharing information about our scholarships and stipends as well as our media watch program. To volunteer at the AAJA booth, please contact Angie Joe. For more information about the festival, call 713-271-6100 or visit www.ccchouston.org. The booth was generously donated by ABC13-KTRK to Texas AAJA. February 15: Deadline to apply for the first 2010 professional stipend from the AAJA Texas chapter. Details here. >> MARCH 2010 March 15: Deadline for professionals and students to apply to be participants or mentors for the AAJA National Convention's student journalism projects in Los Angeles >> APRIL 2010 April 2: Applications for J-Camp due. More information here. April 16: Early registration deadline for AAJA National Convention in Los Angeles April 23: Deadline to apply for Journalism Internship Grants >> MAY 2010 May 12: Houston AAJA mixer, 7 p.m. at Jenni’s Noodle House in the Galleria area (2027 Post Oak Blvd.,  713-621-4200, www.noodlesrule.com). RSVP to Texas chapter president Iris Kuo. May 31: Deadline to apply for the AAJA Texas chapter scholarship. Details here. >> JUNE 2010 June 10: Dallas-Fort Worth happy hour, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Belmont Hotel, 901 Fort Worth Ave., Dallas, 214-393-2300. The Belmont has one of the best skyline views in Dallas and a great atmosphere. If you'd like to stay late, the hotel will be offering a free showing of Anchorman by its pool starting at about 8 p.m. You can grab a bite in the bar or at its adjacent restaurant, Smoke. Happy hour discounts are $1.50 off drinks until 7 p.m. RSVP to Suzanne Marta so we can keep an eye out for you.
