    MINUTES OF MARCH 19, 2006 BOARD MEETING

    AAJA-DC Board Minutes
    Noon, Sun., 3/19/06

    Officers Attending: President Tan Ly, Membership Chairman Lister Lim, Secretary Susan Yoo

    1. AAJA conference in June: Tan to ask each board member to collect two items each for silent auction.

    2. Scholarship Applications have been sent to local colleges.

  • Deadline is Fri., Mar. 31.
  • Winners to be picked by April 7
  • Reception - late April or early May

    3. AAJA Mini-Conference - Sat., Mar. 25, NYU Silver Center

  • Panel 1: Balancing Online and Print Initiatives - Jim Brady, editor, washingtonpost.com; Edward Felsenthal, DME at The Wall Street Journal; Tan Ly moderates.
  • Panel 2: Multimedia-Taskers - Victoria Lim, TV/online/print reporter in Tampa; Ben da la Cruz, videographer at washingtonpost.com; Hari Sreenivasan, abc.com on-air reporter; Eleanor Hong moderates.
  • Panel 3: Bloggings Impact on MSM - Choire Sicha, former Gawker blogger; Jeff Yang, media critic; Amy Wu moderates.

    4. Lister will organize next mixer - Monday, April 10.

    5. Tan to speak at Opening Minds forum Friday, March 31.

    6. Next meeting to be Sunday April 16. (subject to change - it's Easter Sunday). Tan is out of town April 22-May 6).

    7. Listservs/membership: For now, we've decided to continue sending out all listserv messages to the aajadc list. This group includes friends as well as members. Lister will send Susan any new member emails, so they can be invited to the listserv.

    *Turnout was small at this meeting. Remaining agenda items to be covered at next meeting.
